My Roles
This page provides ways for VSPS users to view their current role(s), check if a role has been approved, and request an additional role.
On the VSPS Home page, log into VSPS.
From the left menu, select Personal Profile.
In the Personal Profile Module, click My Roles.
Click this tab to view your current role(s) and to see if a role has been approved. The following information displays:
Action - If user has requested a role but has not received approval, this field will display "Cancel Request". If a role has been approved, this field is blank.
Requested Role - If user has requested a role, that role will be displayed in this field.
Additional Information - For most roles this field will contain:
the State or area for which the role has been requested or approved;
in the case of a Veterinarian Assistant, the name of the Veterinarian with which the user is associated;
the name of the practice of which the user is a member;
the name of the Laboratory with which the user is associated.
Status - When a role has been approved, this column will display "Approved" or if a role is pending "Requested" will display.
Click this tab to bring the page forward.
Review the roles and request the role(s) that meets your needs by clicking on the appropriate [Request Role] or [Request a specific authorization, such as State Authorization].
NOTE: If you request a role for which you are not eligible, your request will be denied. Also, the role(s) you already have are not displayed on the list, unless it is a role that can have multiple options, such as a VMO working at different ports.
The list of roles could include the following:
AIC Administrator - I am an administrator for an animal import center. I approve roles and perform configuration activities in the system with respect to that specific animal import center.
AIC Administrator National - I am a national administrator for animal import centers. I approve roles and perform configuration activities in the system with respect to animal import centers.
AIC Coordinator - I am a Federal employee. I process and maintain reservations at an animal import center.
AIC Financial Staff - I am a Federal employee. I perform financial reporting duties at an animal import center.
AVIC - I am a Federal Area Veterinarian In-Charge.
AVIC Administrator (AVIC Area or National) - I am a Federal employee in the office of an Area Veterinarian In-Charge or in the NCIE office. I perform IT administration duties.
Horse Transport Administrator - I am a Federal employee. I complete certificates for transport of horses to specific facilities.
Horse Transport Coordinator - I am a Federal employee. I process forms regarding the humane treatment of horses.
Importer - I complete on-line forms and permit applications for the importation of live animals and animal products into the United States. I reserve space at animal import centers.
Interstate Administrator - I am an administrator for the Interstate module. I perform configuration activities in the system with respect to Interstate movement of animals.
Lab Technician (Disease or Laboratory) - I conduct laboratory tests for animal diseases. I am affiliated with an accredited laboratory.
Laboratory Director - I am the director of a laboratory. I approve test records completed by staff at my laboratory.
Labs Administrator - I am an administrator for the Labs module. I perform configuration activities in the system with respect to Labs.
Live Export Administrator - I am an administrator for the Live Export module. I perform configuration activities in the system with respect to live animal export.
Live Export Coordinator (Port or National) - I am a Federal employee at a land border port or in the NCIE office. I process applications related to the export of live animals.
Live Import Administrator - I am an administrator for the Live Import module. I perform configuration activities in the system with respect to live animal import.
Live Import Coordinator (Port or National) - I am a Federal employee at a land border port or in the NCIE office. I process applications for the import of live animals.
NVAP Administrator - I am an administrator for the Vet Accreditation module. I perform configuration activities in the system with respect to veterinary accreditation.
NVAP Coordinator (AVIC Area or National) - I am a Federal employee in an area office or in the NVAP office. I process applications for veterinarian accreditation.
NVAP Data Entry - I perform queries and edits, and enter all data in the enhanced Vet Accred Module that comes from fields on signed VS From 1-36A.
NVAP Full View - I am a Federal employee. I can view all veterinarian accreditation information.
NVAP Limited View (State or National) - I am a Federal employee. I can view some veterinarian accreditation information.
Product Export Administrator - I am an administrator for the Product Export module. I perform configuration activities in the system with respect to Animal Product Export.
Product Export Coordinator (AVIC Area or National) - I am a Federal employee in either an area office or the NCIE office. I process and maintain information related to Facilities Approved for the Export of Animal Products (FAEAP)
Product Import Administrator - I am an administrator for the Product Import module. I perform configuration activities in the system with respect to Product Import.
Product Import Coordinator (AVIC Area or National) - I am a Federal employee in either an area office or in the NCIE office. I process and maintain Approved Establishment (AE) information.
Quarantine Enforcement Officer - I am a Federal employee. I perform quarantine enforcement duties at an Animal Import Center.
Riverdale/Regional Staff - I am a Federal employee. I perform various duties for Veterinary Services that require read and reporting access.
State Regulatory Official - I am a State employee. I perform regulatory duties with respect to animal health.
System Administrator - I am an administrator for the VSPS system.
Veterinarian - I am a licensed veterinarian.
All veterinarians who have a veterinarian profile will have a Veterinarian role assignment listing their name (as it is maintained in their veterinarian profile). This role assignment is used to grant access to various records such as laboratory test records and certificates of veterinary inspection.
If a veterinarian user is verified to be licensed in a particular state, the user will also have a Veterinarian role listing that state. This role assignment grants the veterinarian permissions associated with various VSPS activities relative to the state in which he or she is licensed.
If a veterinarian has applied and been approved for accreditation in a particular state, the user will have an Accredited Veterinarian role listing that state. This role assignment grants the veterinarian permissions associated with the activities performed by accredited veterinarians relative to the state in which he or she is accredited.
Veterinary Medical Officer (AVIC Area, Port, or Import Center) - I am a Federal Veterinary Medical Officer in an AVIC Area, at a port, or at an animal import center.
