Find CVIs
From time to time Veterinarians and Veterinarian Assistants will need to search for a CVI. Find CVIs provides a search page where the more information you enter the easier to find a particular CVI. Also, when search results are displayed this is where you find the functionality to copy existing CVIs with or without animals.
To find a CVI:
On the VSPS Home page, log on to VSPS.
From the left menu, select Interstate. The Interstate Module displays.
Click Find CVIs. The CVI Search Criteria page displays.
In the CVI or Retro CVI Search data field, choose one of these options:
CVI (default) - Leaving this option selected lets you search for CVIs that were originally created in electronic format by accredited veterinarians. Continue with Step 5 below.
Retro CVI - Choosing this option lets you search for paper-based CVIs, whose data was later transcribed into VSPS. The VSPS screen refreshes and displays a different set of search criteria data fields. (Note: The rest of this help topic that you are currently reading does not apply to the new screen. For help on the new screen, click on its Help link to see the appropriate help topic.)
The more fields you enter narrower your search results will be, making finding what you are looking for easier.
NOTE: If you are a member of one or more Practices select the name of the Veterinarian you are searching a CVI for, the drop-down is located in the Certificate box. If you click (Search) your results will contain all Veterinarians you are an assistant to.
NOTE: If your role is AVIC, SRO or VMO you must enter your approved state in either the Origin or Destination section.
Click (Search).
(NOTE: You can enter or select some of the search criteria and then click one of the Quick Finds buttons instead of the (Search) button.)
The Search Results display at the bottom of the page. NOTE: If you click on one of the three headings that are in a different shade of blue (Cert. No., Vet Name, and, Issued) the search results will re-sort the results in descending order by that criteria.
You can now:
Use the quick buttons across the top of the results list with the Select column to:
delete a CVI, check the box (or boxes) under the Select column to the left of the CVI to delete and click [Delete Selected]. You receive this functionality only for CVIs that have the Status of saved, you can not delete a CVI that has been issued.
copy a CVI, check the box under the Select column to the left of the CVI to copy and click [Copy Selected (no animals)] if you do not want to copy the animals attached to the existing CVI or click [Copy Selected (with animals)] if you do want the animals copied over to a new CVI. NOTE: If the animal has a saved date of birth in the Animal Book at the time the CVI was created the date of birth will be copied; if the age of the animal was manually entered the age will not be copied over.
Click [Add] if you can not find what you were looking for and want to create a new CVI.
Use the Action column to:
Click (edit) to the left of the CVI you searched. You receive this functionality because the CVI has been saved but not issued.
Click (view) to review the data already entered. You receive this functionality because the CVI has been issued and can only be viewed from now on.
Click (pdf) to view the actual Certificate of Veterinary Inspection.
