Define New

As a Veterinarian, Veterinarian Assistant or Practice Member will need to associate animals with your CVI.  If you intend to do paperwork for this animal only once (i.e. moving to a feed lot or abattoir) you can add this animal on-the-fly through the "Define New" function on the CVI.   When you use the "Define New" function you are not storing this animals information in your animal address book, you are only associating this animal with this CVI.

To add an animal to your Animal Address Book and a CVI at the same time:

  1. While on the CVI you selected  [Define New Animal] from the Select Action drop-down.  The Create Animal page displays.

  2. Animal Book:  From the drop-down menu, select the Animal Book.

For a single animal entry complete the following fields:

  1. Animal Identification:

  2. Enter animals' identification where appropriate.

  3. Consignor / Origin:

  4. These fields are auto-populated from the CVI information and you are not able to edit.

  5. If this animal is not equine, continue with Step 4.

If this is an equine you will have an Equine Details tab.  Click this tab to the front and complete the following fields:

  1. The Summary Data section displayed and you clicked [Define New (Group)] for a multiple animal entry.  The Create Animal page displays.

For a multiple animal entry complete the following fields:

  1. Consignor / Origin:

  1. Click (Save) to save this information to your Animal Address Book.  If you do not click this button you will not save this animal and your entries will be lost.

  2. Click (Return) to return to the CVI.

NOTE:  To add another single animal, click the (Return) button and then [Define New] once you are back on the CVI page.
